Soldiers March on Boardwalk

Fundraiser benefits wellness center for troops returning home from the Middle East.

Soldiers in full military fatigues were spotted running and walking on the boardwalk last week.

Braving the rain and cold on Oct. 29, these soldiers from each branch of the military participated in the 1st Annual Combat Veteran Long Beach Boardwalk March, a 10-mile march starting at Riverside Boulevard boardwalk.

The fundraiser event was the brainchild of Long Beach resident Amy Mahoney, founder and director of Peaceful Minds, a wellness center for combat veterans who returned home from Iraq and Afghanistan and suffer conditions ranging from insomnia to depression to traumatic brain injury.
