Fan Contests Announced for Jones Beach Air Show

Fans of the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach can participate this year in two interactive Facebook contests designed to celebrate fans of flight, as well as the nation’s deserving veterans.

The Bethpage Federal Credit Union “My Very First Flight” contest announced Monday challenges fans to submit positive photos capturing their “very first flight.” The other interactive Bethpage contest called “Veteran Appreciation” recognizes and celebrates those who have served their country. For this contest, Bethpage is challenging veterans to share what Memorial Day Weekend and the air show at Jones Beach State Park in Wantagh means to them.

Fans can participate in the contests beginning now through Monday, May 14 at 4 p.m. Bethpage will announce five random winners for each contest on Tuesday, May 15th at 10 a.m. All winners will be contacted privately and announced on the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach Facebook page.

Those interested in participating in the Bethpage contests can upload their photos and stories to an official Facebook Contest link found on the Bethpage Air Show Facebook Page. Contest participants can also mail photos and stories to Bethpage Federal Credit Union at 899 South Oyster Bay Road, Bethpage, N.Y. 11714, ATTN: Bethpage Air Show Contests. All names will then automatically be entered into both the Bethpage “My Very First Flight” Contest and the Bethpage “Veteran Appreciation” Contest.

Winners for each contest will receive four VIP tickets to the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach Reception held at the Cradle of Aviation Museum in East Garden City, four VIP Tickets to the Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach and four Tickets to the Geico Skytypers Planeside Meet & Greet.

The ninth annual Bethpage Air Show at Jones Beach will be held Memorial Day weekend at Jones Beach State Park on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. both days. The May 26-27 air show is free to the public, but the standard $10 vehicle use fee will be collected each day upon entry to the park.

The military performers scheduled for the show so far include the United States Navy Blue Angels; Royal Canadian Air Force Snowbirds; U.S. Air Force F-22 Raptor; United States Army Golden Knights Parachute Team; The United States Navy F18 Super Hornet; 106th New York Air National Guard Rescue Demo Wing HC-130/HH-60 and the WWII B-17 Flying Fortress. Civilian performers scheduled for the Memorial Day weekend show include the American Airpower Museum Warbirds;  GEICO Skytypers, Sean D. Tucker – Team Oracle; Lt. Col. John Klatt – National Guard Reserve; Matt Chapman; David Windmiller and Ed Hamill, who will fly the Bethpage Bi-Plane.
