Long Beach chief serves as referee and LBFD firefighters as color guard.

Long Beach Chief Richard Corbett was guest referee for the third annual “rough touch” football game between the Point Lookout-Lido and Island Park fire departments at at Hofstra's James M. Shuart Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The game is a fundraiser with ticket and concession sales going to the Nassau County Firefighrers Museum and Education Center, and organizers estimate they drew some 150 supporters and raised about $5,000, according to Newsday. Among those in the crowd were firefighters from Long Beach, who also served as the game's Color Guard.

About the game, in which Island Park won 36-24, Cheryl Foran, the wife of a Hempstead Fire Department volunteer who played in the game, said the Garden City-based museum gets by "mostly with volunteers and donations, and I'm impressed with the way it turned out."
