Jogger Beaten, Robbed on Boardwalk

Police seek public's help in finding the suspects.

Long Beach Police Department detectives seek the public's help with their investigation into a beating and robbery on the boardwalk Monday night.

According to LBPD Deputy Inspector Bruce Meyer, a male jogger was running at the 400 block of the east boardwalk when a group of about five youths attacked him at about 10:44 p.m. on Sept. 19. The youths surrounded the jogger, kicked and punched him and stole his iPhone. The jogger suffered abrasions to his knees and elbow.

The suspects are described as black males between the ages of 14 and 19, and fled the scene on foot and on bicycles.

Police ask anyone with information in connection with this robbery to contact the police department’s TIPS line at 516-705-7370. All calls will remain anonymous.
