Long Beach Goes Festive as Quiksilver Contest Kicks Off

The city was busy with a surf competition in the midst of Labor Day weekend.

DJs spun vinyl, surfers signed autographs, volleyball players made kill shots, make-up artists beautifyed ladies, barbeque chefs were cooking, bands were belting out tunes from the beach to Kennedy Plaza, as crowds filled the beach, boardwalk and Park Avenue Sunday. In other words, the Quiksilver Pro New York surfing competition started in the midst of Labor Day weekend, and the event's site on National Boulevard and surrounding areas were hoping. Patch photographers were there to capture some of the many happenings.
