Marines Lose Playoff Opener to Carey, 26-12

Seahawks took early two-touchdown lead.

Behind an inexperienced quarterback and a receiver returning from a hamstring injury, No. 4 Carey defeated No. 5 Long Beach, 26-12, on their home turf in the first round of Nassau Conference II playoffs Saturday.

Quarterback Andrew Ris and receiver Steven Marino lead the Seahawks (6-3) to two early touchdowns before John Delahanty caught a 19-yard touchdown pass late in the first-half to put the Marines (5-4) on the scoreboard.

Newsday has more about the game here. Carey will line up against top seed Garden City at Hofstra on Friday.
