Marvel Looks to Rebuild
Family-owned business seeks zoning approval to demolish existing shop.
Marvel, the ice-cream shop that has been a fixture on the barrier island for more than half a century, may soon see the wrecking ball in order to rebuild from scratch.
The family-owned business business submitted an application with the Town of Hempstead Zoning Board of Appeals to demolish the existing structure and rebuild a new ice cream and frozen yogurt shop on the existing site, at 258 Lido Blvd. in Lido Beach.
The zoning case is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Aug. 22 at Hempstead Town Hall, at 1 Washington St. in Hempstead.
