Another busy weekend for the police in Long Beach. We seem to be the center for drunk drivers and suspended licensed drivers.
Whats the big attraction? And if those morons would read Patch, they would know better than to break the driving rules and laws down here. They all get caught. But do they even care??????

the minute a football game ends, closing time or the infamous Irish Festival (SHOULD) result in hundreds of DWI's, so make sure you are safe and secure when that happens.

I see that so many of the crimes and DWI's occur around 3 AM. I'm fast asleep way before then, and anyone who's hanging out in a bar or driving around at that hour is taking a huge risk.

I am home every night. When I hear a screech or scrape of metal, I cringe. Anyone that drives while drinking, gets exactly what they deserve when caught. Maybe going to jail will teach a lesson better than the spoken word. Good job LBPD.

My daughter is usually on her way home at that time, driving innocently home and these brainless idiots are getting behind the wheel drunk. It is outrageous that people are so irresponsible and putting others at risk. So glad and grateful the police are arresting so many.

I agree with you Goingplaces. And by the way, yes, it is my sons name on that blotter. No license & drinking = jail! As a parent, I can only give them the tools to know right from wrong and to lead by example. He chose his road. Maybe a month working at the coroners office would show these people what they could have done. Follow yours friends, NOT your common sence, and THIS is what you get. And NO, I did NOT bail him out!!!!!

I really applaud you-- many parents try to make excuses for a poor choice their child makes-- You are 100% correct when you say that you can only give them the tools and lead by example. Good for you, Lucy!

I do not ever wish to be in your place, Lucy. A true Hobson's choice. I've done some hard drinking in LB bars over the years, but now I walk the mile or so home and leave the car where I parked it or pay the $6. cab fare. A parking ticket is a far cry from the astounding financial hit you take for a DWI. Think of it this way.........don't have that last cocktail and call a cab instead. Same money.

Good mature decision making, Mike. Its something you will never regret...using good judgment and obeying the law.
Reminds me of a true story. About a dozen years ago I was seriouslt datng a woman who turned out to be an alcoholic.
She often went into rehab and then to AA meetings where she and her alcoholic buddies would discuss how to beat the mandatory urine tests they were required to take. I was appalled at their lack of comittment and their total disregard of the law.
Well, my gal figured out how to fool the authorities, but never got sober and couldnt fool me anymore.
So, listen up, MeAgain...my girlfriend acted like you and thought she could outsmart the law. She died a few years later, a hopeless drunk, at the age of 50.

You are encouraging dangerous DWI, MeAgain.
You are one inconsiderate, self-centered, reckless, jerkoff for advising drunks how to beat the police traps and put innocent people in harms way.
Next time you get drunk here, call a cab and have him drive you one way to New Jersey.

Hey lloyd, enough with the name-calling ( dummy). Do you realize that the LBPD were just given a new thing to consider in their patrolling strategy.......and now you just blew it.....wide open. You have compromised that potential way of further and better enforcing the law against this scourge of society. Shame on you (you inconsiderate, self-centered, jerkoff, reckless, etc.).

Further you go to NJ - I will be here seeing to the best interests of real LB citizens

You suggested to drunks that they should drive down residential streets and put innocent people there at risk so the drunks can avoid the poice stakeouts.
I doubt the LBPD will pay attention to your postings, but you and your buddies must already know how to beat the system, while caring for no one but yourselves.

No, simply pointing out the obvious. As for me "and my friends",you have shown yourself to be a bit presumptuous there.

It's too bad you had to blow our steak out. Now we have to find other ways. Turn tale and focus on the stop sign issue or something.

You have just "been schooled"

Lloyd, I understand your point but took "MeAgain"'s comment as sarcastic.... I don't think there is any road that people can drink and drive down and be safe... I understand how people could have read his comment and seen it as you did, but do you really believe that he has an inside scoop as to where police never patrol? Honestly, I'd be afraid to drink and drive down any street in LB, as I see police cars enforcing many roads, regardless of the route or time of night-- i see officers on all different roads

Margaret...I just question his intentions. I do agree with him that the police normally patrol the busy thoroughfares where MOST drunk drivers would use to make a quick exit home...Park Ave, W. Beech, and Broadway. What MeAgain is really doing is bragging how he and his drunk buddies know a way to evade the police checkpoints. He's not providing a community service by sending drunks down your street and alerting the police to post a patrol car on every corner.
Like I wrote before..I know what alcoholics do when they get together...they share advice on how to beat the urine testing and DWI sobriety tests by the police.
They brag how their lawyers got them off with just a slap on the wrist and how it wasnt even their car that got impounded.
Believe me, these addicts are NOT concerned about the publuc safety..only where to get the next drink without getting caught.

Lloyd, it is clear you have a great skill: an amazing ability to draw conclusions in your mind about people and assign a stereotype to them. Me and my drunk buddies conspiring to evade checkpoints? Imagine if that were the case.

Quite frankly, we are disappointed by your unwillingness to support measures that curtail the scourge of society that is DWI (and we will be expecting more from you in the future in this regard).

Dont give drunk drivers any ideas on how to beat the system/avoid detection.

And more importantly, do not under any circumstances post irresponsibly in such a way that it jeopardizes our ongoing efforts to enforce the laws and attempt to rid society of this scourge
