Thomas Sofield, a police lieutenant in Long Beach, was the highest paid town, village or city employee on Long Island in 2011.

Typical Long Beach corruption. Leading the way.
Tonto Hertzberg December 26, 2012 at 09:10 am
Question: Is it true that the Sofields are part owners of the Whales Tale. Some folks say that the place is zoned as a luncheonette which but operates as a full blown bar. A lunchunette witha booze license can not have bar service. Drinks must be served from a bartender to a waitress to a patron. Plus it cant have live music or stay open past 8pm. How come none of the rules applied if true? Maybe because the GOP covered his ass?

Check out the 2012 payroll. Tangney out earned Sofield. With the added bonus of the bumbling fool Larson, who does not wear a uniform, earning plenty of OT doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING and then gets promoted to Lt. after allegedly failing the recent Lieutenants test. Let's not forget Cernaskis' bonus of a $25,000 lawsuit settlement, $100,00 in his time bank and three jump promotion to Det/Lt- and not one crime has been solved this year.

I love all the feel good stories that were posted We should have more of them. Bad news travels fast which does not encourage good behavior with young children and even some young adults. Keep up the great work Patch and have a great New Year!!!!!!!!!!

Bottom line re: LIRR is that people in suburbs who ride LIRR and Metro North are paying to subsidizeRead More the bankrupt NYC Subways and subsidize minority riders in the outer boros. Its the price we pay to not live in NYC. The subways charges a cheap fixed fare to subsidize low income NYC residents. Its a form of socialism.
