After a disaster like Sandy, McDonalds would normally be the first place to reopen. McDonalds Corp. has crews that renovate an entire store in a weekend. Does anybody know what the story is with the LB McDonalds?
Maybe it has to do with franchising? My guess with someplace like McD's is that some locations are owned by the corporation itself and then some locations are owned by individuals or smaller corporations. If that location was owned by an individual or smaller corporation, maybe those crews have to be hired out from the larger corporation and cost more money than the franchisee can afford? Just spitballing here, could be totally wrong.
I've also noticed that the McD's on Rockaway Turnpike & Peninsula Blvd. in Cedarhurst which was affected by Sandy has also just been fenced up and is standing unfixed.
I just called the McDonalds 800 number and reported the failure to repair the LB store and asked when we could expect it to be fixed. I said it looked terrible, as it is on one of our main streets. I also said its disrepair has become an online topic of conversation among community members. While no response is guaranteed, I was told they most often do get back to customers on issues like this one, and that if I haven't heard anything, I can call again in 3-5 days and this matter will be escalated further. I'll post any response I get here.
I always thought it was a very well run successful store. There were 2 women managers that were excellent. I believe the owner of that store is a franchisee group that owns quite a few other McDonalds stores on LI.
