If it requires writing a letter or turning off the TV to leave the house, Long Beachers won't be bothered. Besides the Dems are givin us 5 kool stores on the boardwalk. Maybe one of em il be a surf shop! Knarly, Dude! Zapson says itsgotta be bilt because its Vanderbilt money. Done deal. Sell before they break ground and maybe you'll get out.

@ Publius, thanks for keeping everyone up to date with these reminders. @ jv, as you mention the immense financial clout of iStar, I doubt either our local Democrats or Republicans could have stopped these guys- even if they wanted to. Assuming the amount of cash that will be flowing through the area, all the special interests will win in that respect. On the other hand, if the Republicans had a stronger grasp of the economics going on here, at least they might have bargained for a little more from iStar. (Money, or at least some more public use.) I just hope that somehow the developers have to stick to the law. But they're more likely to get ticketed for a right turn on red than being held to the building codes.

About two years ago, Harvey Weisenberg, our self-lauding State Assemblyman, proclaimed the "Biggest Threat to Long Beach's Future" - our dwindling water supply. He called for typical Democrat solutions -- draconian conservation measures and oppressive rate increases. And huge surcharge taxes on deveolpment. Yes, it is true that every year the County drills monitoring wells and finds more and more encroachment of salt water into the Lloyd Aquifer, from which Long Beach pumps its water. Now, Harvey's Democrat handlers are proposing 525 new units that will each pump 200 gallons of water each day from the aquifer. Where's Harvey? You're not telling us you are simply one more bought-and-paid-for-Democrat-fraud, are you? Let's hear from Harvey Weisenberg! Stand up against this development, Harvey, or step aside, you fraud!

You people voted for the people who have negotiated this deal with I star. When the local GOP tried to warn you about electing a bunch of people who's livelihood is real estate, you did not listen. Now you must reap what you sow. Next time look at the candidates and their political handlers behind the scenes before you blindly pull the lever, or these days fill in the circles, for the party you are affiliated with.

Laura you are a ignorant hateful old lady aren't you. You and other Eddie should get together. Yes all that free stuff and not working is going to pay that very high rent. To bad you don't get any of that free stuff. You just aren't smart enough. Everyone else is getting free stuff but you. If the dumbest people can live rent free in a new building by the beach and you have to work and pay to live in a old barely living full of mold house, I'd rethink who's the dumbass. Everyone blame the democrats for everything. Yes it's all there fault from the beginning of time. Nothing could ever be your fault.

Considering new tough 2015 Long Beach and FEMA building codes for a oceanfront building how much will they have to sell these condos for to make a profit. They must be super expensive.
Publius February 25, 2014 at 03:02 PM
Sandy Man -- not condos, but rental units.
