City Scenes Signal Fall is Here to Stay

The signs of the transitioning seasons range from the browning leaves to the boatless bay.

You know autumn has arrived on Long Beach island when, during a recent sunny weekend, boats on the bay were far and few between and seagulls were the most populous bunch on the beach.

A stroll or drive around the city signals other tell-tale signs that fall is here to stay, from the seasonal Golden Delicious and Macintosh apples on display at the farmer's market at Kennedy Plaza to the political-season signs popping up around town to leaves showing blushes of brown and yellow.

More autumnal signs will be evident this weekend as pumpkin patches and a Halloween costume parade showcase the 14th annual Fall Festival, to be held at the Recreation Center and Kennedy Plaza on Saturday starting at noon.
