Visit Patch each morning to get the scoop on what's happening in Long Beach.

It’s Valentine’s Day, so where’s the love? Maybe you'll find it in Long Beach today. Here’s what’s happeninging in the city (and on this site) as romance fills the air this Monday:

1. The movie Going the Distance (2010, R, 102 mins.), about a guy and girl who try to make a long-distance relationship work, starring Drew Barrymore and Justin Long, will show at 2 p.m. at the Long Beach Library.

2. Coming up on Long Beach Patch: A story on three area couples who have sustained their romances through four decades.

3. Perhaps you missed a few stories we posted over the weekend: “Weather Wrecks Havoc on City Roads” spotlights the issue of potholes on city streets after the snow and ice melted, and “They’ve Got the Thrill of the Chill” features surfers who still hit the waves even when the beach is covered with snow.

4. The Long Beach High School hockey team faces off against Connetquot/Sayville in the first game of a best-of-three finals series Monday night at The Rinx in Happague. Go cheer them on once the first puck drops at 8:10 p.m.

5. Can’t get enough hockey? Firefighters and police officers take part in an open hockey session ever Monday and Wednesday from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Long Beach Ice Arena.
