Broadcasting on the Beach with Halftime Howie will switch its hour-long show on AM1240 WGBB to Sundays from 7 to 8 p.m. starting January. The show’s host Howie Appel and his team have several notable shows and events lined up.

The first big event is on Jan. 13, when the show will broadcast live from Rockville Centre Lanes. There, bowling enthusiasts can try to pitch a perfect 300 from
6 to 11 p.m. and enjoy musical entertainment by Benoir & the Long Beach All Stars.

On Jan. 20 the show will broadcast live from the Martin Luther King Center in Long Beach. “The MLK Center will talk about the big parade the following day in Long Beach,” Appel said about the annual holiday parade in the city.

An all-day party is planned at Hub Billiards in Island Park on Super Bowl Sunday, Feb. 3. The radio show is set to start at 11 p.m. after the big game.

Come Feb. 10, Halftime Howie will broadcast from the Knights of Columbus in Lindenhurst as part of a benefit for the Knights lodge in Long Beach.

Following a benefit concert at Mulcahy’s in December, the radio show will return to the same venue in Wantagh for another night of music and fundraising from 6 p.m. to 12 a.m. Feb 24.

The show will hold a special St. Patrick’s Day broadcast from the Long Beach VFW on March 17.

“We will feature the dancers from the Hagen School of Irish Dance, traditional Irish music including bagpipers and a good luck send off to our very own Robin Lynch, who will be running in the Boston Marathon in April,” Appel said.
