Margaret Chabris, a 7-Eleven spokesperson, told Patch on Friday afternoon that the company hopes to open the new 3,400-square-foot store, at 969 W. Beech St., before July 17. The store will be larger than the typical 7-Eleven, she noted, and will focus on fresh food and products that meet the needs of beach-goers.

“The store will offer the usual convenience items, along with our signature products like 7-Eleven coffee, Slurpee and Big Gulp beverages, roller grill foods, fresh foods and bakery items delivered daily and hot foods, Chabris said. “Plus the store will carry our private-brand products, 7-Select – package bakery, snacks, candy, for example, which have the same quality as name brands but cost 10 to 20 percent less.”

Last August, as the national convenience store was in the process of purchasing the property, Scott Kemins, the city’s building commissioner, told Patch that no variances were required because off-street parking is already in place and no additions are being built to the existing building.

The West End store is the second 7-Eleven in Long Beach. The existing store is located at 504 Long Beach Blvd.
