Jan: 17 No School, MLK March and Clay Time

Here's what's happening in Long Beach on Monday.

All is well in Jets Nation after Gang Green toppled the New England Patriots in a divisional playoff game yesterday. Meanwhile, this week, as fans and business gear up for next Sunday’s AFC Championship game between the Jets and Pittsburgh Steelers, there’s a lot going on in Long Beach. Today, school is out, locals will march down Park Avenue and hockey fans can show their support for a team other than the Islanders.

1. Schools are closed to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today. Due to the holiday, there will be no sanitation pick-up.

2.  The Long Beach Martin Luther King Center will hold a MLK birthday commemorative march that starts at Laurelton Boulevard and West Park Avenue at 11:30 a.m. and culminates at the MLK Center at 615 Riverside Boulevard. A holiday celebration and luncheon will follow.

3. Hockey fans, listen up! The Long Beach High School hockey team will face off against Middle Country at the Long Beach Ice Arena at 7:45 p.m.
