Is the Tea Party going to run a candidate for City council in the next election ?
Frank McQuade February 12, 2013 at 07:29 AM
The Tea Party is not a political party. We do not run candidates for City Council. Rather, we support candidates who share values of fiscal responsibility in government and preservtaion of civil liberties, and we oppose candidates who do not show these values either through their record or platform..

About "NOT RACIST, NOT VIOLENT, JUST NOT SILENT ANYMORE! BIG GOVERNMENT = BAD GOVERNMENT. Replace, Repeal, Restore!"~ I AM THE TEA PARTY! Mission Question...Are those millions of people you see on TV protesting RACIST? ANTI-SEMITIC? CLOSED MINDED? I don't think so. I am one. One of the millions of people like you that has had it! The slander your hear is a distraction so you don't see that people JUST LIKE YOU feel bullied and unheard. I am a JEWISH WHITE MAN Married to a like minded Beautiful CATHOLIC BLACK WOMAN. I run my own business and believe in the constitution. And I love my country. Doesn't fit the mold? TOO BAD! Stop believing in molds! You and I are not backward, racist, violent or bigoted people but people who believe in a country of laws. We don't want to be OVER TAXED or for the dollars we work hard to earn to be squandered. We don't want to leave OUR MESS to our children to clean up! We have seen two administrations try to tackle the economy with knee jerk reactions and fail and only make things worse. We don't want to be forced to go along with ANYTHING, ANYMORE that we haven't had a chance to Read, Understand or VOTE for! To my Democrat & Republican friends and family: YOU SHOULD BE OUTRAGED AS WELL. No matter how you stand on the issues, don't believe the main stream media or your political party. Believe in yourself and your family and do like Bob: GET UP, STAND UP, STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS! In a nonviolent way by voting anyone out of office that you disagree with! It is time for real change. The kind that doesn't come from HOPE but from hard work and from uncomfortable realistic rational actions. You have a voice so use it. Tell your friends and family we can make a difference if we band together. If you agree with me you are an American and can now say "I AM THE TEA PARTY" too! :) If you agree with me and want to tell your friends and family from both political parties we agree on more than we disagree Recommend this page to your Facebook friends. Thank you for your time. Larry

So much for freedom of speech and choice. If not your party, then no right to meet. They normally meet at the LB public Library, we all know the status on that. I am sure the VFW would extend to any other organization the opportunity to use their hall. The initial Sandy bill was bloated with $16 Billion worth of pork and entitlements. While you may be in favor of that, we can not afford that. The new bill passed shotrly there after with about $16 B less in the bill. What does that say about the first Bill ? Noting like half a story. Gus sounds very scairy on the internet, ohhhh.

Just what are your 'values', Mr. McQuade?
Frank McQuade February 13, 2013 at 09:11 AM
TAURUS: My individual values are less important, since I am just a common citizen at the service of my community, and my views are generally available through the articles I publish and through my web-site www.mcquadebrigade.com. Generally, Tea Party values are the promotion of civil liberties through a strict interpretation of the Constitution and the "fedferalist" system, encouragement of individual initiative by the lessening of government mandates, spending and regulations and lower taxes, and support of property rights and free-market engines of economy. Please join us, Taurus, on February 25, to learn more, as we are interested in knowing what you think, what is important to you, what your political values. All voices are welcome additions!

Why is the Patch allowing this hateful speech from this coward Papadocolous?

About Tea Party Patriots The Tea Party movement spontaneously formed in 2009 from the reaction of the American people to fiscally irresponsible actions of the federal government, misguided “stimulus” spending, bailouts and takeovers of private industry. Within the first few weeks of the movement, Tea Party Patriots formed to support the millions of Americans seeking to improve our great nation through renewed support for fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free market economic policies. Tea Party Patriots is a national grassroots organization that exists to serve and support the thousands of local organizations and millions of grassroots Patriots throughout our nation. We provide logistical, educational, networking and other support to thousands of community-based tea party groups around the country. Tea Party Patriots state and national coordinators serve your local grassroots groups, support you with the tools and technology you need to address your local issues, listen to your voices, gather your ideas, and together help shape the overall direction of our national movement. Working in a truly grassroots fashion, we have already changed the political landscape of America. Tea Party Patriots is 100% grassroots, 100% of the time. Tea Party Patriots is made up of, and funded by, millions of regular Americans just like you, who believe there is a better way forward for America. We are a non-profit 501(c)(4) organization that does not support any political party nor do we endorse candidates. If you support fiscal responsibility, constitutionally limited government, and free market economic policies, we encourage you to sign up for Tea Party Patriots today. JOIN US TODAY OUR MISSION The Tea Party Patriots’ mission is to restore America’s founding principles of Fiscal Responsibility, Constitutionally Limited Government and Free Markets. OUR CORE PRINCIPLES FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY means not overspending, and not burdening our children and grandchildren with our bills. In the words of Thomas Jefferson: “the principle of spending money to be paid by posterity [is] swindling futurity on a large scale.” A more fiscally responsible government will take fewer taxes from our paychecks. CONSTITUTIONALLY LIMITED GOVERNMENT means power resides with the people and not with the government. Governing should be done at the most local level possible where it can be held accountable. America’s founders believed that government power should be limited, enumerated, and constrained by our Constitution. Tea Party Patriots agree. The American people make this country great, not our government. FREE MARKET ECONOMICS made America an economic superpower that for at least two centuries provided subsequent generations of Americans more opportunities and higher standards of living. An erosion of our free markets through government intervention is at the heart of America’s current economic decline, stagnating jobs, and spiraling debt and deficits. Failures in government programs and government-controlled financial markets helped spark the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression. Further government interventions and takeovers have made this Great Recession longer and deeper. A renewed focus on free markets will lead to a more vibrant economy creating jobs and higher standards of living for future generations.

Wait a second, the Tea party people objected to the lard and pork that Demoncrats included in the bill like rebuilding an airport in Alaska and building a senior citizens center in Dallas, TX. They did the right thing by voting no since Alaska and Texas were not damaged by hurricane Sandy as you know.
queenskid February 14, 2013 at 08:17 AM
I am a Tea Party member. I love this country and it pains me to see what has happened in this country. I have five grandchildren and I don't want to leave them with the debt that this President has saddled them with. I don't want to see more of their liberties taken away. I believe in helping people, but I want to help who I want to help and I don't like the government to take my money and send it to all these foreign countries and then call it my fair share. I want to help people here in America (those who i wish to help). This is a communist principle. As an American, I did not approve of the Hurricane Sandy Bill. Why? Let me tell you. Much of the money was not going to Hurrican Sandy victims. Let me tell you where the money was going: 1. $500 million for weather forecasting and creating an ocean zoning plan 2. $10 million for FBI salaries 3. $2 billion for road construction across the country 4. Funding for Head Start Programs 5. Roof repairs at the Smithsonian 6. $150 million for fisheries across the country 7. $9 billion for the National Flood Insurance Program 8. The Frelinghuysen Amendment for $16 billion for Community Development Block Grants that states and localities can hand out pretty much anywhere they choose As you can see, much of the money for Hurricane Sandy victims was used for other than the victims and this is why many from the Tea Party did not support it. If there was not such censorship of the press, you would have know about it. The press tells us what they want us to know. I am asking you to google the Hurricane Sandy bill and look for the pork and you will see that I am right. I am sure you will agree when you see what they wanted to do with the money. It belong to us - the victims. We are not terrorists. Many of us have studied the Constitution. You never see any of us arrested. We just believe in this country and want to save it for our children and grandchildren. We thank the VFW for allowing us to use their premises. Just because you do not agree with our philosophy, does not mean that you should support keeping us out of the VFW. That my friend is a form of censorship and communism. Do you knot agree that in American, we are allowed to voice our opinions, even if you do not agree. WE WILL NOT BE SILENCED.

Demonstration planned for Tea Party Long Beach meeting? Can anyone confirm that?
Tideline February 15, 2013 at 08:16 AM
Do you have a source for the TP LB meeting demonstration ? Or, are you just spouting off like Gus Popodockolous whose anti American Civl Rights comments, which are all gone. LOL.
queenskid February 15, 2013 at 11:24 AM
Why are so many of you not using your real name? Is there something to hide?
Tideline February 15, 2013 at 02:03 PM
Yes, their identity. In this day and age, when posting on the internet, that is the smart thing to do. There have also been other situations that members of this site have had their cars and homes vandalized, in response to what they have written here. Also, you do know that .L.B is a town of retaliation from City Hall and other City agencies. If you don't know the above, you are naive.
Tideline February 26, 2013 at 07:15 AM
Frank, how was your meeting ? Did Tonto Hertzberg/Gus Popodouclous show up with his demonstrators ? How was your turnout ? Don't support the Republicans who take away your Rights.
Frank McQuade February 28, 2013 at 03:48 PM
The meeting was fine. It was well-attended and orderly. There was rigorous discussion on aspects of local government and participants voiced concern over environmental and financial problems following the Storm. We analyzed the approximately 11 billion dollars of the so-called Sandy Relief Bill that, in fact, was spent on "pork" projects funded for sites as far away as Alaska, Florida and Cuba, including part of the "Sandy" money being allotted for work the prison in Guatanamo. Did you know that? That is why thinking people ask questions about spending. Politics is a grey area of balancing interests, rather than tethering onself to extreme ideological lock-step, so we looked at all sides of the question. All opinions were respectfully received and members seemed motivated to work harder. We appreciated the publicity generated by Gus/Reggie/Tonto, as there was heightened interest and attendance. With enemies like him, who needs friends? Next meeting is March 25.
