Schools Open, Council Meeting on Tap This Week

The summer and holiday weekend are over. Here's what's on tap in Long Beach this week: 

• Beach Closes: The Ocean Beach Park in Long Beach closes for the summer season Tuesday. Lifeguards are off-duty until next summer.

• Council Meeting: The Long Beach City Council will hold the first of two regular monthly meetings at City Hall, 1 W. Chester St., at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

• Rosh Hashanah begins at sundown Wednesday.

• Ready for Some Football? The regular season of the the National Football League kicks off when the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens host the Denver Broncos at 8:30 p.m. Thursday. Where will you watch the game in Long Beach?
