STORM RAVAGED REC CENTER FITNESS ROOMS RE-OPEN

When Superstorm Sandy wiped out the Long Beach Recreation Center, many of our loyal fitness equipment members were left without a place to work out. The Long Beach Rec Center knows how important fitness is to its members, and went to work immediately on bringing the facility back.

We are happy to announce that the Rec Center Fitness Facility has re-opened. Not only was the Rec able to bring the fitness center back to Long Beach, but it brought in brand new state-of-the-art fitness equipment. Recreation staff members worked with Gym Source and professional consultant Mark Siegel to design the layout of the room and hand select each piece of equipment to ensure something for everyone. This included strength equipment, free weights, cardio equipment and ADA compliant equipment that will also allow special needs individuals to work out.

The new fitness center has all new Cybex Strength equipment designed to provide the best workout possible. The equipment is logically grouped by body part so that users can complete a circuit to meet their specific needs. There are even a few cardio machines in the strength area to allow you to warm up properly prior to doing your strength workout.

The Cybex Arc Trainers not only provide a great cardio workout, but are research proven to place less stress on the knees, burn more calories and work the butt and legs better than other cross-trainers. The Octane Lateral-X machines are ellipticals that move sideways and back so that you can do cardio, burn calories, plus work your inner and outer thighs at the same time.

We encourage our residents to come by and check it out. While the pool, locker room, and steam room are still not finished, and the free weights are not in yet, the Cardio and Weight Rooms are more than worth the price of admission. Head over to The Rec and check them out Monday through Friday 6:00am to 9:30pm, Saturdays 7:00am to 8:30pm, and Sundays 7:00am to 6:00pm. You will be pleasantly surprised.
