More than 25 five scouts from the Theodore Roosevelt Council's Boy Scout Troop 189 of Temple B’nai Torah in Wantagh, their leaders and family members teamed up with the American Red Cross to assist victims of Hurricane Sandy.

On Sunday, Troop 189 reported to a staging area in Lido Beach where they were assigned an outreach program on the West End of Long Beach. They knocked on doors to see if residents were in need of help and identified houses with elderly residents, and supplied them with food, water, information , as well as helped to salvage their personal belongings.
