A crew from the show in March filmed the weeklong remodeling of the Enright family’s Michigan Street home, capturing the many volunteers from Long Beach painting and hammering alongside the HGTV team. The episode is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday.

“Host Ricky Paul Goldin enlists a flash mob, and The View's Sherri Shepherd, to help a struggling Long Island family in the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy,” reads a description of the episode on HGTV’s website. “The entire community pitches in to turn their storm-damaged house into a stunning, comfortable home for this hard-working family of eight.”

After the storm, John and Lori Enright and their six children, along with their two dogs and a ferret, lived in three upstairs rooms in three-story home, where they cooked meals using a microwave and a toaster oven in a bathroom.

The cable show announced in March that the Enright’s video, submitted by a family friend, was chosen among thousands of submission.

In addition to a full first floor remodeling, the house features new kitchen appliances, dining room and living room furniture, and bedrooms and other rooms equipped with a flat screen televisions and Cablevision.

“This blows me away,” said John Enright as he looked with tears at his reconstructed home. “It has been so long since we sat down at table together as a family just to have something to eat.”

Goldin, who grew up in Atlantic Beach and spends his summers on the barrier island, noted how humble and gracious the Enrights were.

“I understand that people are still struggling to put their lives back together since Superstorm Sandy,” he said.
