A fishing boat crashed into the Wreck Lead Bridge that spans Reynolds Channel from Long Beach to Island Park early Wednesday morning.

According to Nassau County Police Department, at about 12:15 a.m. a commercial fishing vessel hit the bridge, which Long Island Rail Road trains use to cross the bay as part of the Long Beach branch.

“It had some sort of mechanical difficulty,” a public information officer told Patch about the boat Wednesday morning. “There was minor damage to the bridge.”

The U.S. Coast Guard responded to the accident. No injuries were reported, the officer said. The LIRR reports regular service on the branch.

we have to thank all of the latinos for helping to rebuild our city and our homes. without them we would still be looking at piles of debris and homes we could not live in. we also have to thank the wonderful long beach employees who have worked so hard to keep us going.

Vassal, vessel, weasel, yeah, it does not rhyme. The workers, that happen to be immigrants, are just that, hard workers, the ones America had to rely from its inception to be what it is today. Now about the city employees, it was about time they did some work.
