Nine months after Hurricane Sandy several empty storefronts and commercial buildings remain in Long Beach, adding to those that already existed before the storm. Here are just five vacancies in different parts of the city:
- 8 W. Park Ave. - MetroPCS mobile phone store was previously located at this unit, where earlier this year a frozen yogurt shop was proposed to open there.
- 881 W. Beech St. - The former Beech Street Deli Company was opened in 2010 but closed after Hurricane Sandy.
- 367 W. Park Ave. - The former Sunrise Center recreational facility has remained vacant for several years and was proposed to become a five-story senior residence.
- 26 W. Park Ave. - Bi-Wise Drugs occupied this unit but went out of business in 2012.
- 225 E. Park Ave. - The former site of DiSalvo’s pizzeria has been closed for a few years, according to a neighboring business owner.
