Peter's Clam Bar Celebrates Grand Reopening

It has been six months since Superstorm Sandy reached Long Island shores and devastated thousands of homes and businesses.

Nassau County Executive Edward P. Mangano and Nassau County Legislator Howard Kopel helped celebrate the Grand Reopening of Peter's Clam Bar in Island Park.

Peter’s Clam Bar was devastated by Superstorm Sandy and has been rebuilding ever since with the help of the County’s LEADS program.

Their reopening, however, was delayed a few times, however they kept in touch with patrons via their Facebook page.

"...We are trying to get everything together as quickly as possible so you can all enjoy our fried seafood, soup, baked clams, raw clams, and crabcakes," they posted last week.

“Rebuilding is still taking place but I know that we will rebuild better and stronger!” said County Executive Mangano. “I would like to thank the owners of Peter’s Clam Bar; Dominick DeSimone and Angelo Remuni for allowing me to participate in this extraordinary day. I am proud that Nassau County could help get this top notch restaurant back up and running!”
