"Sandy Lung" in LB? Respiratory Problems in LB after Sandy?

We all know there was raw sewage, mold, and all sorts of bad things in the air after Superstorm Sandy. I have never had respiratory problems before. But since Sandy my children and I have been having more and more problems with our breathing and have seen several doctors.

After noticing the issue I have spoken to friends, neighbors and other residents. It appears other towns affected by Sandy have experienced the same issue. And we all know what happened to people who lived downtown after the 9/11 attacks. Then I began doing some research and I found that other communities hit by Sandy have been experiencing the same problem which some have dubbed "Sandy Lung".  Many towns and cities have provided free testing for residents. yet for some reason city hall is tight lipped and refuses to address the issue

A quick Google search of "Sandy Lung" shows that it may be a real phenomenon and while Long Beach city focuses on nothing but rebuilding our boardwalk, people are having problems real breathing and getting back into their devastated homes.

Is anyone else experiencing the problem? Why hasn't city hall been proactive? Did city hall, like many other communities, ever check the air quality of the city in the days after the storm? If they did they never reported it to residents. I can’t find any evidence that the city ever did any air quality tests. And I can’t get answers from city hall. No one knows. I went to a city council meeting but the city refused to give nay answers at all which I simply cannot understand.

After Sandy many came back to LB bringing our children with us and returned to our lives only to be faced with new health issues City Hall has been so focused on rebuilding the boardwalk and sometimes it seems that is all they are concerned about. City Hall is not helping people get back into their homes and they have done nothing to test air quality since the storm, like other cities have done. Has anyone else been experiencing problems breathing since Sandy? Please let us know. Together maybe we can get city hall to something more than focus on our boardwalk!
