April 12: A Tasty Fundraiser and Radio Long Beach

Get the scoop on what's happening in Long Beach each weekday.

Patch gives Long Beach readers five things they need to know each weekday morning, from school board meetings to fundraiser events to arts shows. Here’s what’s happening in the busy beach town Tuesday:

1. The Friends of the Long Beach Public Library will hold the third part of their "Taste of Long Beach" series on from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Allegria Hotel on West Broadway. This fundraiser for the library gives guests the opportunity to taste hors d'oeuvres and other samples from executive chef Todd Jacobs. The cost is $20.

2. Long Beach radio show personality Halftime Howie will host his show “Broadcasting On The Beach” at the Allegria following the Friends fundraiser at 8 p.m. Guests will be Members of Taste of Long Beach,  chef Jacobs and Steve Adelson of the Long Beach Jazz Festival. Tune into AM 1240 WGBB to listen.

3. Later on Patch: We’ll have a story on the Nassau County District Attorney’s investigation of a Long Beach City Council member's unemployment practices, while the city manager's management of time sheets has come into question. And in case you missed it, yesterday we posted a story on the early history of the Canals neighborhood.
