pre-trial hearing for Long Beach City Councilman Michael Fagen is tentatively
scheduled for Nov. 7, after he was originally expected to stand trial
in September, a spokesman for the Nassau County Disrict Attorneys Office told
who was indicted in February
on charges that he illegally collected more than
$14,000 in unemployment benefits, is due back in court Oct. 19.
The councilman, who was elected to a
four-year term in 2009, was indicted on 38 counts of
first-degree offering of a false instrument for filing, one count of
third-degree grand larceny and one count of petit larceny. Fagen has pleaded

of the case that would not involve a trial. If convicted, Fagen
faces up to seven years in prison.
