Feb. 1: 100 Things to Do, Halftime Howie at Christian Light, City Council Meeting

It’s February and guess what? It's starting off looking a lot like January. That’s right, snow will fall yet again today. But beside the 2- to 4-inch accumulations and freezing rain that is expected, here’s what you need to know for Tuesday:

1. Later today Patch rolls out a new weekly feature called “100 Things to Do in Long Beach.” First on our menu of places to profile is the Laurel Luncheonette.

2. Long Beach radio personality Halftime Howie will air his show “Broadcasting on the Beach” from the Christian Light Missionary Baptist Church from 8 to 9 p.m. on AM 1240 WGBB. His guests will include Long Beach Fire Department Chief Rich Corbett, who will talk about fallen FDNy hero William Quick, Warren Vegh, president of the Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, and Kevin McCarthy, president of the Long Beach Polar Bears.

3. The Long Beach City Council meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall. This is the first meeting of the month and so there will be a Good and Welfare session that affords city residents the opportunity to address any government-related issue.

4. High school sports fans cant get their fill when the girls’ basketball squad tips off against Calhoun at 4:30 p.m. at LBHS. Come back later for a our game coverage.
