Fire Strikes East End Home

A fire broke out at an East End home early Monday morning.

The Long Beach Fire Department received a call during the 7 a.m. hour about a fire in a home at 142 E. Pine St., and when firefighters arrived at the scene they found smoke coming from the first and second floors, Chief Antonio Cuevas told Patch.

“The arriving units quickly evacuated all occupants from the residence and located a fire in the basement,” Cuevas said.

Firefighters kept the blaze confined to the basement and extinguished it with minimal damage to the home, he said, and no serious injuries were reported at the scene.

The fire is under investigation by the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office.
