Ozone Park Native November 18, 2012 at 12:14 PM
I want to take this opportunity to Thank Ms. Murray and every TOH worker for their dedication, care, and hard work during the cleanup aftermath of this storm. As I see them on the street, I pull over and thank each one individually. They deserve a public shout out. These workers were on the street hours after this storm helping everyone remove/cleanup after this storm. Our normal garbage wasn't neglected in anyway and was properly picked up. Ms. Murray - give those men and women out there a big pat on the back for their hard work. THANK YOU EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU!!!!! - From a seaford resident....

As a long time resident of Long Beach I would like to thank the residents of RVC who have come to our aid. The outpouring of support from RVC has been tremendous! The people of RVC have shown up here in force bringing everything from hot meals made in home kitchens and hand delivered in personal vehicles to shovels and brooms complete with people power to use them. If out of the rubble comes the kindness and generousity of people like you then this disaster can be set a side in no time. With your help Long Beach has picked itself up and is moving forward to become better then it was. Again, many thanks to the people of RVC who continue to come to our aid and to all those who organized and transported the many kind people who showed up to help our City.

As the commanding officer of the Nassau County Auxiliary Police of Bellmore, North Bellmore and Merrick, I want to thank my members for your dedication to helping our communities in every way during this hard time. Some of us volunteered from 7am to 11:30 pm keeping gas lines in order so our nieghbors can have a safe purchase. Others helped out with downed power line, evacuations and many more heroic deeds. Once again I thank you and I'm sure the citizens our communities thank you too. Our command trailer in the Merrick Golf Course parking lot in not inhabital due to MOLD, so we will be holding our meetings in our members homes as needed until we find a replacement Head Quarters. To Ozone Park Native: A thank you to Kate Murray???? What for????? What on earth did she do? She is a do nothing, photo opportunistic person, with no backbone. She has killed businesses and the like from developing around the county unless she gets her vig from a large firm.. The holidays are coming and I wonder where her next check will come from.... Attorney General should read this and check it out...

There are several homes in East Meadow with large trees laying on their yard and blocking sidewalks. These trees are too big for neighbors to cut down safely. It appears that the homeowners are elderly or can't afford to pay for removal. Is there a town program that could help these individuals with tree removal?

Teresa- Unless you bag and tie your branches they are not touching them. I had a small bag and lose branches, they took the little bag and left everything else. It would have been nice if there PHONES were on with messages telling what you should do with the debris. I called everyday this week and all I got was a busy signal.
paul November 18, 2012 at 03:50 PM
To All As per the county, due to the storm "YOU DO NOT HAVE TO CUT AND BUNDLE YOUR BRANCHES..." as some think..... There is no specific dates set yet, but trucks are going around picking up all of the leaves and branches that you can leave at curbside. You can call 516 489 5000 and they will transfer you to the correct department that can advise when the pickup of these items may occur in your area... Hope this helps....

@Paul - She showed leadership along with Mr. Mangano and Gov. Cuomo at a time when LIPA stood around with their thumbs up their butts acting like "Prima Donnas" (Def: a vain or undisciplined person who finds it difficult to work under direction or as part of a team)...The term fits them well. This is not the place for your rant - you have a problem then take it to the Town like everyone else. Those workers, along with the Police and Fire Men and Women were out there helping us, WERE YOU??? Leave it be and take your rant to where it belongs. Not on here!
Ozone Park Native November 18, 2012 at 08:33 PM
@andrew - I'm not paint huffing - I'm giving thanks where thanks is deserved.

OPN...there is always going to be the endless whiners. I agree with you...for our first pretty bad storm since 1938...I think they did well and we ALL should see this as a learning curve to prepare better in the future (private and public).
paul November 18, 2012 at 11:20 PM

Hey, moderator, what can you do about these posts that are advertisements for the Outlets? They are spamming these boards and are quite annoying.
