Jackson Hotel Owner: No Exact Idea What We’re Going to Do

Building was purchased for approximately $5.2 million.

The new owner of the Jackson Hotel, David Kadosh, has cast some doubt on whether the facility may reopen as a hotel.

The hotel, located at 405 E. Broadway, was on the market for more than five years and 405 Hotel LLC purchased the building for approximately $5.2 million earlier this month. But Kadosh said it is too early to discuss what will come next at the facility that was built during the 1920s, according to the Long Beach Herald. Kadosh said:

“Right now we’re cleaning up the place, and we have no exact idea of what we’re going to do with it yet … We’re trying to restore the building to its original details. The hotel was vacant for a long time and people used to use it as a dump. We’re cleaning it up and putting it back together the best we can.”

David Rosario, the project manager at the site, told Patch last week that the new owners will reconstruct the building and open a new hotel, renaming it the Long Beach Hotel, which will feature 122 rooms with nightly rates between $169 and $189. Moreover, Corey Klein, the city’s corporation counsel, said that the facility has been grandfathered in as a hotel. “From what I’m told the people who purchased it will keep it as a hotel,” he said.

Rosairo and Kadosh declined to offer more details about the future plans for the building, but both said more information would be forthcoming in August.

Over the past decade there were unsuccessful attempts to either convert the hotel to condominiums or demolish and replace it with condos, the Herald also reports, and the building was used briefly to house homeless families through funding from the Nassau County Department of Social Services before the city cited the hotel with violations for improper use.
