July 25: Hoping for a Safe Return, Candlelight Vigil

Get the scoop on what's happening each weekday in Long Beach.

Good morning Long Beach! Here are some things you need to know today:

+ Long Beach High School teacher and Surf Team coach Daniel Bobis went missing Sunday morning in Sumatra, Indonesia. His board was located, but there were no signs of Bobis. Fellow teacher Jay Spitz explained that the “rescue efforts are horrible there” due to the remote nature of the area. He added that Rachel Bobis, whom he has been in contact with, said that the local United States Consulate has been no help thus far. Find the full story here. Friends of Bobis are currently looking for donations to assist in the rescue efforts. Find out more information here.

+ Last night, there was a candlelight vigil to hope for the safe return of Bobis. Check back later today for a story.
