June 1: Art Exhibitions, a Basketball Tournament and Wine

Get the scoop on what's happening each weekday in Long Beach.

1. For all of the music lovers out there, Cantor Don Goldberg will be lecturing on Luciano Pavarotti today at the Long Beach Public Library at 2 p.m.  Come down and learn about the wonderful tenor’s life, musical career and more.

2. The Long Beach Art League will hold an opening reception for the Leona Post exhibition at 7:30 p.m. at the Long Beach Public Library.  Carl Lubow will be at the show critiquing the work displayed.  For the guests there will be raffles and door prizes, too!

3. Can’t get enough of basketball even though the season is just about over? Long Beach High School will be holding a Spring Basketball Tournament at 3:30 p.m. today.  Call the school at (516) 897-2012 for more information.

4. The Saloon will be having their weekly wine night from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.  Take advantage of some special menu choices, including a soup, salad, entrée and two glasses of wine all for $25.95. Call the restaurant for additional details at (516) 432-9185.

5. In case you haven’t seen it yet, head over to the library’s West End branch and check out Kathleen Regan’s solo exhibition “Paintings that Soothe the Soul.”  It is only on display until Jun. 30, so definitely catch this can’t miss art show.
