May 3: City Council Meets, Mangano Speaks, Radio Free Long Beach

You want to find out about daily goings-on in Long Beach, right? Then visit Patch, where each morning from Monday through Friday we post five things we think should know that day. 1. The Long Beach City Council will hold a regular meeting at 7 p.m. at City Hall. This is the first meeting of the month and the council holds a Good and Welfare session that gives residents the opportunity to talk about any government-related issue.

2. Nassau County Executive Edward Mangano and Legislator Howard Kopel will answer residents' questions at the Island Park Civic Association meeting at 7 p.m. at Island Park Library on Long Beach Road. Representatives from the Nassau County Departments of Police, Public Works, Senior Citizens Affairs, Health, Parks, Recreations and Museums, Veterans Services, Social Services, Physically Challenged and Consumers Affairs will also be available to answer questions.

3. The Long Beach High School's PTSA will hold a budget and elections meeting on May 3 at 7:30 p.m. at the high school.

4. Long Beach radio personality Halftime Howie will take his show Broadcasting On The Beach to the Christian Light Missionary Baptist Church on J.J. Evans Boulevard. Howie will interview church officials and have regular segments and other guests. Listen in at 8 p.m. on AM 1240 WGBB.
