Photo of the Day: Boardwalk Ramps - or Lack Thereof

Hurricane Irene wreaked havoc on the beach and boardwalk last summer and signs of its destruction endure.


Hurricane Irene pounded Long Beach last August, days before the Quiksilver Pro New York surfing competition kicked off on National Beach, but some notable remnants of the storm’s wrath remain. While the beach patrol station was returned to its foundation last October, and the Magnolia Boulevard playground was refurbished earlier this year, some boardwalk ramps that were washed away when the ocean met the city’s streets have yet to be reconstructed.
