The Nassau County Police Department has issued a silver alert for a missing Long Beach man.

Ian Reid is described as a 39-year-old white male, 5'10'' and 225 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen at the Apple Store at 767 5th Ave. in Manhattan on Nov. 26, 2012. how about posting a picture of this man?

And since someone publicly listed the drugs this person is taking should they not first do a Google search for HIPAA and or PHI?
John Rider November 30, 2012 at 10:07 AM
It depends who provided the information. A doctor or hospital wouldn't be allowed to release PHI (such as the medications taken by a patient) to the media, but the patient's father/legal guardian isn't bound by Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, which is intended to regulate the actions of healthcare providers.

@John Rider - you are correct. NCPD did not provide a photo. We reached out to the family, who provided the photo above.

Wow went to school with Ian. I pray for his safe returns

I am staying at a FEMA hotel with another who is displaced from Long Beach, down the block from this location. We will keep an eye out in the streets for him.

He was a nice kid growing up, and a good athlete. I had no idea of his struggles. I hope he is found and this has a happy ending for Ian and his family.

Thanks Taurus, hopefully that news is accurate can anyone with a real name confirm this?
Taurus December 04, 2012 at 04:53 PM
Was told by a friend who knows the mother. Can't imagine it is not accurate...perhaps it can be confirmed by the LB police department or by an update by Mr Kellard.
