Mission

Find out what's happening in Long Beachwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

We educate and

facilitate a fun and relaxing atmosphere for anyone interested in playing

Ukulele. We intend on performing many concerts and releasing recordings in the

near future.

Description

Our group has been evolving from a handful of

players to a small ensemble of about 10 to 15 regulars. We rehearse Tuesday evenings at Studio Noir in the West End of

Long Beach under the direction of Benoir and Jeff Alan. The 1 hour classes

focus on basic Uke techniques and advanced playing skills like soloing and flamenco

styles. Our repertoire is a mix of cover songs and a few originals that were

well received at our first recital in December 2013. We intend on performing at

Arts in the Plaza and other events around Long Island. We welcome new members

of all levels and age. There is a $20 fee to attend our class/rehearsals and

we've expanded into two classes. We also incorporate other acoustic instruments

such as violin, viola, flute, percussion and upright bass. Acoustic guitars

will also be brought into the mix as Benoir has been heading in a Rhys Chatham

inspired direction with large ensemble compositions in the future. FIOS

"Push Pause" produced a feature on our ensemble that aired in

February and can be found at http://youtu.be/u-fZoSFAMDQ
