Trainers from The Pilates Absession, Sports Performance Group and
Sportset will be holding a boot camp fundraiser Saturday to support the St. Agnes Parish Center in Rockville Centre and
Sandy Help LB in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.
The fundraiser will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Sportset, located at 60 Maple Ave. in Rockville Centre.
Particpants must be at least 8 years old and admission is $20.
Patrons may come and go as they please. Groups will be rotated among a
group of trainers every 15 minutes.
Karen Riccio, who has helped organized the fundraiser, said donations
are going to St. Agnes and the Sandy Help LB group because of the
tremendous work they were doing after Hurricane Sandy.
"Suzanne Sullivan has spearheaded a donation site at the St. Agnes
Parish Center," Riccio said. "They are there every day of the week and
it is extremely organized. ... She consistently posts on Facebook when
they will be there to accept donations and the specifics of what
they're looking for."
"Bryan Murphy began the Sandy Help LB initiative right after the
storm. He has a business and home in LB but is residing in RVC with
his mother during this time," Riccio added. "[The webpage] informs you
exactly where to meet each day, the teams of people are going into
people's houses and helping them with rip out, sand removal, etc."
Riccio said she has never actually met Sullivan or Murphy, but
appreciates the work they are doing to get information out to the
public.
"They are both incredible, selfless people," Riccio said.
Those who cannot make the fundraiser can send donations to The Pilates Absession, 40 Maple Ave., Rockville Centre, N.Y. 11570.
