Beginning in January, meetings will be held at Mercy on the second and fourth Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the hospital’s board room, located on the first floor, adjacent to the chapel.
Led by a registered nurse, the group offers a positive and supportive environment for individuals with breast health issues, and residents of all nearby communities are invited to attend.
The group offers support, guidance and education on the emotional, physical and psychological aspects of coping with breast cancer and other breast health issues, its impact on the individual as well as the family, and information on topics such as: understanding your diagnosis, treatment options, chemotherapy, radiation, pain management, exercise, nutrition, stress management and more.
Mercy’s ongoing efforts to assist the storm-devastated Long Beach community also include facilitating continuity of care by providing temporary space to Dr. Joel Benowitz, a surgeon whose offices were destroyed by the storm. Advance registration is not required to attend the support group.
Light refreshments will be served and ample free parking will be available.
