The City has reportedly hired another assistant for the administration at a taxpayer cost of $85,000 a year! How many assistants does it take to run the city?
In March I revealed that Public Works Commissioner Jim Lacarrubba needed and hired eight (8) assistants to help him do his job, when the previous Public Works Commissioner only needed one (1). I also questioned City Comptroller Jeff Nogid's qualifications to do his job for $15,000 more than his predecessor when he isn't even a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). It appears that, like Lacarrubba, Nogid needs help doing his job despite the fact that the Mandel-Googin administration bragged about his credentials when and after he was hired.
According to reports, Jack Schnirman and the Mandel-Goggin Administration created a new position in the city workforce and hired a Deputy City Comptroller for a reported $85,000/year of taxpayer money. The position never existed in the past.
What about the "fiscal crisis"? What about the "hiring freeze"?
If the Mandel-Goggin hired experienced professionals in their fields in the first place rather than political hacks they wouldn't have needed to hire all of these "assistants" to help them do their jobs!
Both Jim Lacarrubba and Jeff Nogid are paid more than their predecessors who were fired when the Mandel-Goggin Administration took over city hall last year.
Jim Laccarrubba is a political crony of Jack Schnirman from Brookhaven. He is not even an engineer nor has he any college education in that or any field, yet he was hired to replace the experienced and educated Public Engineer that the Mandel-Googin Administration fired.
Jeff Nogid is a political crony of LB Democrat Chairman Mike Zapson and former County executive Tom Suozzi. He also worked for Enron. Nogid is also not a CPA, but Like Lacarrubba he was hired anyway, not because of his experience or education, but because of his political connections.
Now Nogid, like Lacarrubba, needs multiple assistants to help him do the job he was hired to do, and he is getting paid $15,000 more than his predecessor!
How many assistants do the members of the Mandel-Goggin Administration need to run the city? Sounds like an old jokes we heard as kids! But in this case, its serious and the city taxpayers are paying for it dearly.
The Mandel-Googin administration has gone out of its way to hire political friends and family members, despite a campaign promise not to do so, and they raised taxes on city taxpayers three (3) times in less than 365 days to pay for it!!
The Mandel-Goggin Administration needs to stop out of control and irresponsible spending that force our taxes to consistently go up. Instead of hiring assistants to help obviously incompetent and inexperienced people like Lacarrubba and Nogid to do their jobs, they should fire both and hire real professionals with real credentials who can get the same job done for less!
Taxpayers of LB have had enough!
