Liz DeGennaro always had a love for animals.
This year, the professional dancer and personal trainer from Babylon, will appear on Rescue Ink, a reality show about a group of tattooed "tough guys" who run the Rescue Ink/Long Beach Aniamal Shetler and remove animals from desperate situations.
DeGennaro, a dog lover, said that her main goals are to raise money for animal shelters, to educate people on the importance of neutering, and to urge individuals to adopt animals from shelters rather than pet stores.
She adopted her three dogs or "kids," Chance, Kimba and Bella from shelters.
"I love animals and I have three rescues at home," the 28-year-old said. "I want to help in anyway that I can to get the word out about adoption and animal abuse."
DeGennaro's dance company, Wild Cherryz, had a fundraiser for animal rescues earlier this year, and in lieu of favors at her wedding in 2011 she and her husband donated money to the Warm Hearts Humane Society in Arkansas.
DeGennaro said that she has many goals that she wants to accomplish, but one of her biggest aspirations is to have her own rescue shelter.
"My dream is to purchase land to foster many animals," she said.
