Elect Matthew Adler for School Board Trustee

     My name is Matthew Adler and I am a candidate for Long Beach Board of Education Trustee.  I am asking for your vote at the election on Tuesday, May 21st.
 
     Many of you are not familiar with my name, so I would like to give you some background information.  My family has resided in Long Beach for over a decade; my son attends first grade at East Elementary School while my daughter, who is three year old, attends nursery school.  My wife is a speech therapist while I have been teaching high school mathematics for the past 10+ years at Seaford High School.  Prior to that, I was an elementary teaching assistant for children with special needs, a camp counselor and supervisor and a little league coach.  

    Having a passion for educating children of all ages and ability levels is one of the reasons I want to become a Board of Education Trustee.  My teaching experience has enabled me to learn how successful school districts work and gives me an understanding of how children of all levels learn best and what type of leadership a school district needs to support ongoing achievement while maintaining a reasonable tax base.  Our schools need the same low-cost, high impact technologies that are used in our personal and professional lives so that instruction is not only effective but efficient.  Teachers need the proper support, trainingand mentorship to keep up with the new curriculum and state mandates.  Parents and the Long Beach community deserve to receive full information about the budget, curriculum and the new state mandates in a manner that they can comprehend.  The district website not only needs to be simplified, but needs complete information on it, such as district and school Newsletters/Newspapers, staff e-mail and the entire Board of Education Policy Book. 

     Long Beach needs fresh and innovative input from aSchool Board Trustee who is informed on the latest educational and financial information.  As a teacher, I have the educational background. As a mathematics major, I have the financial knowledge to move our district forward in a manner that will create and maintain educationallyhigh standards while safeguarding our community from overblown taxes. 

     I promise to give my all to provide quality education for children of all ability levels and to ensure parents that their children are getting the absolute highest quality of instruction, curriculum and education.  

      A successful school district is an essential component of Long Beach’s ongoing rebirth and I know I am the right candidate for School Board Trustee.  Vote for innovation and a fresh look at our school district.  I am counting on your vote on Tuesday, May 21st  – Row 1A.
