Arts & Crafts Fair?
I didn't particularly see anything artsy or crafty at this weekend's arts and crafts fair. It was more like a flea market than an arts and crafts fair. My major complaint is the lack of diversity and quality of merchandise. I think there should be a ban on the amount of booths set up selling cute little hippie-style dresses. There had to have been at least 15 of them. A couple of crappy jewelry stands, some cheap pocketbooks - not much stands out. I have friends who work fairs and they claim they do not like to participate in the Long Beach fairs because people don't spend money. It's not worthwhile for the better vendors to participate. I hope the City works to entice better quality vendors next time around. If I saw that Billy Crystal commercail on TV and hopped on the train for the 50 minute convenient train ride to paradise, I'd have thought I made a wrong turn based on that fair.
