LIRR Parking Garage

This weeks heavy rain demonstrated and reinforced the fact that the parking garage built at great taxpayer expense is a giant, poorly planned piece of junk.

Why? Let us count the ways: Pedestrian access to one's car on some sections of the platforms are downright dangerous. There are no crosswalks, (crosswalks, are an issue all around LB) and the access to the elongated sections are far away, forcing one to walk with vehicular traffic.

There is one section of ramp that challenges galloping Gertie in terms of vibration. One wonders, "when will this thing collapse?".
This particular section of ramp has a multitude of cracks in it already.

Drainage: whoever built this thing did not install drainage, nor even sewers on the lower level. The asphalt is warped on ground level resulting in a pool of water that always forms and remains for days after the rain has stopped.

The security cams in the stairwells are useless. Kids walk to a point in them where the camera can't see them and smoke pot. Do you suppose someone is actually watching these scenes in the LBPD? I doubt it, the kids were patying long and hard one day when I went through there and if the viewers were diligent, they would have noted the fact the kids walked in one door, and never left.

When the lot is full, and this is often, one must look outside on ground level for parking. 90 percent of the spots on ground level are reserved for the LIRR. This is absurd. In Lynbrook, the LIRR employees have 10 spots at most. Why does the LIRR did so many spots, when most of them park off lot near the train?

All this plus the fact the fee went up $100 when this built this monument to poor planning and poor government.

I hope the boardwalk is built better than this thing. Never use this contractor again, he robbed Long Beach with his piece of junk.
