Long Island Rail Road

It is bad enough that we are still displaced from our homes, but the Long Island Rail Road is only making matters worse.  The entire schedule is to and from Atlantic Terminal with connections in Jamaica to Penn Station.  Every train that services Long Beach during rush hour is normally packed going to and from Penn Station yet there is do direct service to connect the diesel service to Penn Station.  There is a 5:59 pm train leaving Penn making Lynbrook the first stop at 6:31.  The shuttle to Long Beach leaves 1 MINUTE earlier at 6:30 and the LIRR response "We cannot hold trains".  Does that make ANY SENSE???????

that answers my question on moving back home to lb...was going to give the lirr a test run to/from lb but not any more

agree that the service is so limited... runs only once an hour at peak and every two hours off peak .Unless moving back to LB is your only choice = I wouldn't do it!... +and still no word when 3rd rail will be repaired....

Very pleasant surprise this evening after I planned to be picked up in Lynbrook that there was an announcement on the 5:59 train that the Long Beach train was going to be held in Lynbrook for all passengers making the connection. Down to just two trains Eastbound, now if they could only do the same in the morning.... Three trains is really not pleasant the you cannot get on a train in Lynbrook in the AM. PACKED and no one moves!

I travel to Atlantic terminal every day so the commute has not been bad for me. People who want to get to Penn may want to travel to Merrick and take the train from there. I did that after Irene and before Long Beach got the diesel trains this time, and it's not bad. And I have been loving the double deckers
