City MD Moves in Before Premier Care Opens

City MD, an walk-in urgent care center, is promoted as the latest proprietor of a building where an apparent competitor, Premier Care, was due to open this month, at 904 W. Beech St. in Long Beach’s West End.

Starting last summer, Premier Care rebuilt the unit, a former Bank of America ATM center, and Lauren Gandillon, director of Premier Care marketing, told Patch last month that the office would open Dec. 15. But as of last week, Premier Care’s exterior signs that were installed were taken down and City MD posters appeared in the windows to announce the company’s arrival and pending opening.

City MD and Premier Care failed to provide further information about the change in urgent care businesses despite Patch’s repeated attempts to speak with officials from both companies.

City MD’s website lists seven locations in New York City, as well as another office in Brooklyn, with Long Beach among four new offices reportedly to open soon.

The website states about its non-911-emergency services: “City MD Urgent Care offers fast, comprehensive, and professional health care to get you feeling better as soon as possible. Whether it’s seasonal allergies, a sprained ankle or a cut that may require stitches, we can help you feel better faster.”
