Cops: 12 Unlocked Cars Burglarized

Also, seven cars stolen in Nassau County in one week, cops said.

Unlocked cars continue to be targeted by thieves around Nassau County, according to Nassau County Police.

Police said 12 cars were burglarized within one week after they were left unlocked. Reports of break-ins were received in both residential areas and commercial parking lots. Most of the break-ins happened overnight, cops said.

Cops also reported seven cars stolen in Franklin Square, Hewlett, Elmont, Massapequa, and Merrick.

Nassau County Police reported the following incidents between June 26 and July 3:

  • June 26: CVS, Plainview; items stolen from unlocked parked car at about 4 p.m.
  • June 26: Dana Avenue, Valley Stream; items stolen from unlocked car between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m.
  • June 27: Lisa Court, South Farmingdale; items stolen from two unlocked cars belonging to the same victim between 1:42 a.m. and 3:42 a.m.
  • June 27: Stop & Shop, Oceanside; items stolen from unlocked car between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.
  • June 28: Cambridge Street, Bay Park; items stolen from unlocked car between 4 a.m. and 10 a.m.
  • June 28: West Sunrise Highway, Valley Stream; items stolen from unlocked car between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.
  • June 28: Eisenhower Park, East Meadow; items stolen from unlocked car between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.
  • June 30: Peninsula Boulevard, Hewlett; items stolen from unlocked car between 3 p.m. and 3:10 p.m.
  • June 30: South Grand Street, Westbury; items stolen from unlocked car between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.
  • July 1: Ransom Avenue, Sea Cliff; items stolen from unlocked car between 9 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.
  • July 2: Lexington Street, Westbury; items stolen from unlocked car between 8 p.m. and 9 a.m.
  • July 2: Linden Street, Massapequa; items stolen from unlocked car between 1 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.

  • June 30: Harris Avenue, Hewlett; gray 2014 Toyota Highlander.
  • July 1: Herbert Avenue, Elmont; blue 2002 Chevrolet Avenger.
  • July 2: Delta Road, Massapequa; black 2013 BMW 650i.
  • July 2: Cancos, Merrick; red 2008 Saturn.
