Cops: Long Beach Man Attempts Intoxicated Robbery

Man demanded cash and beer, fled after sales clerk shoved him, police reported.

A Long Beach man tried to rob an Island Park gas station while he was drunk, according to Nassau County Police.

Cops said Kyle McLaughlin, 27, of Long Beach, went to Petro Gas Station on Austin Boulevard, pulled up his shirt as though he had a weapon, and demanded cash and beer. The 33-year-old sales clerk pushed McLaughlin, who fell to the ground and quickly fled the store, police said.

McLaughlin was in an “intoxicated condition” at the time of the incident, which happened at 9:38 p.m. Sunday, detectives reported.
