Crimes Nearby: Shoplifting, DWI, Theft

Arrests and Incidents in towns near Long Beach.

The following information was supplied by the Nassau County Police Department. A criminal charge is only an accusation, and does not indicate convictions.

Oceanside

  • Dennis Jones, 33, of Freeport was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated at Windsor Parkway in Oceanside on Aug. 1.
  • Charles Jordan, 20, of Oceanside was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated at Waukena Avenue in Oceanside on Aug. 4.
  • Doris Milea-Melendez, 41, of Baldwin was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated at Merrick Road in Oceanside in Aug. 4.

Five Towns

  • Peter Fishburne, 49 of Florida was arrested and charged with shoplifting at Costco in North Lawrence on Aug. 2.
  • An unknown suspect removed a camcorder, sunglasses, duffle bag and headsets from a vehicle while it was parked on Meadow Road in Inwood on July 31.
  • An unknown suspect broke the rear windshield of a vehicle while it was parked on Harvard Road in Woodmere on Aug. 1.

Either way, if this story is true and some pets did indeed drown is the City Administration investigating the matter or was the administration hoping citizens would never hear of this and sweep it under the rug and keep those Rescue Ink idiots in charge? Last summer the surfers were give only 1 in 3 beaches and that was base on increased demand, and this year more surfers are expected so it makes sense that more beach be set aside for them, or some kids are going to get hurt and then the city will need to pay for that.

Your argument that surf shops continue to exist as a result of surfers shopping there is darn near brilliant. I heard a report that supermarkets in town are being solely supported by hungry people.
