Nearby: Firefighters Evacuate Cedarhurst Home on Fire

Firefighters early Tuesday evacuated several people, including an infant, from a three-story Cedarhurst home that had caught on fire.

At 1:15 a.m., the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department was alerted to a house fire at 307 Madison Ave., according to fire officials. LCFD and Nassau Police officers arrived at the scene within a minute of the call.

Firefighters located a fire in the basement of the home. As crews searched the upper floors, firefighters stretched a hoseline into the basement. The fire was quickly contained, and the Nassau County Fire Marshal was called in to determine the cause.
